Garlic Chicken Lo Mein

Ingredients

Main:

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles – You can substitute with spaghetti, ramen, or yakisoba noodles if needed.

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil – Divided, for cooking the chicken and stir-frying.

  • 1 pound chicken breast, thinly sliced – Boneless, skinless works best.

Aromatics & Veggies:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced – A key flavor base for this dish.

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables – A colorful mix of carrots, bell peppers, and broccoli adds texture and nutrition.

Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce – Adds saltiness and umami.

  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce – Deepens the savory profile.

  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce – Adds a hint of sweetness and depth.

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil – For a nutty finish.

  • Salt and pepper, to taste.

Garnish:

  • Sliced green onions – For freshness and color.

Instructions

1. Cook the Noodles

Start by cooking the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions. Once done, drain them and set aside. If they stick together, toss them with a tiny bit of sesame oil.

2. Cook the Chicken

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced chicken breast and sauté until browned and fully cooked—this should take about 4–5 minutes. Once cooked through, remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.

3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Toss in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute—just until fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
Add your mixed vegetables and stir-fry for 3–5 minutes, or until they’re tender-crisp. You want them cooked but still vibrant and slightly crunchy.

4. Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauceoyster saucehoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Taste and adjust to your preference (add a splash of water if you want it lighter).

5. Combine Everything

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the veggies. Add the drained noodles and pour the sauce over everything. Toss well to coat the noodles, chicken, and vegetables evenly. Stir-fry everything together for 2–3 more minutes until heated through.

6. Serve

Season with salt and pepper to taste, garnish with freshly sliced green onions, and serve hot. Enjoy!
