Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make this tasty chicken casserole:
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
½ cup chicken broth (or milk)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for flavor)
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough, quartered
1 cup frozen peas or diced bell peppers (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prep & Preheat
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a 9×13 -inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Make the Creamy Chicken Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine:
Cooked chicken
Cream of chicken soup
Sour cream
Chicken broth or milk
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Smoked paprika (if using)
Salt and black pepper
Mix until smooth and well combined.
Stir in frozen peas or bell peppers if you want extra color and flavor.
Fold in 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, reserving ½ cup for topping.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Top with the quartered biscuit dough pieces, arranging them evenly across the surface.
Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
Step 4: Bake to Perfection
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the biscuits are puffed up and golden brown.
If you love extra browning, switch to broil for 2-3 minutes at the end. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
Step 5: Cool and Serve
Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly for 5 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley or chives for a pop of color and freshness.
