A simple, hearty slow-cooker meal made with smoky little sausages, tender potatoes, and beans in a savory sauce. Perfect for busy days because the crockpot does most of the work.
📝 Ingredients
1 (14 oz) package Lil’ Smokies sausages
2 cups baby potatoes, halved (or diced regular potatoes)
1 (15 oz) can baked beans (do not drain)
1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup chicken broth
½ cup barbecue sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
👨🍳 Instructions
Prepare the crockpot
Lightly spray the slow cooker with cooking spray.
Add the base ingredients
Place the potatoes, onion, and garlic in the crockpot.
Add beans and sausages
Add the Lil’ Smokies, baked beans, and kidney beans.
Make the sauce
In a small bowl mix chicken broth, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Combine everything
Pour the sauce mixture over the ingredients and gently stir.
Slow cook
Cook on LOW for 6–7 hours, or
HIGH for 3–4 hours
until the potatoes are tender.
Serve
Stir well and serve hot. Great with bread or cornbread.
⭐ Optional Add-Ins
½ cup bell peppers for extra flavor
1 tsp chili powder for a little heat
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese on top when serving
🍽️ Tips
If the sauce becomes too thick, add ¼ cup broth.
You can replace kidney beans with pinto beans or black beans...
