Instructions
Activate Yeast (if using active dry yeast)
Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
Add yeast mixture (or instant yeast), warm milk, butter, and the egg.
Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls
Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions (8–10 pieces).
Roll out each piece into a rectangle, place filling in the center, and roll it up tightly.
Pinch the edges to seal and place seam-side down on a parchment-lined tray.
(Optional: make small diagonal cuts on top for design.)
Second Rise
Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30–40 minutes until puffy.
Brush and Bake
Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool Slightly and Serve
Let them cool on a rack for a few minutes before serving.
