Ingredients:
1½ pounds ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper, to taste
4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared from about 2 pounds potatoes)
2 tablespoons butter (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
Boil the potatoes in salted water until soft.
Drain the potatoes and mash them with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
Set aside the mashed potatoes.
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add onion and sauté until soft.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add ground beef and cook until browned.
Stir in tomato paste and flour, mix well.
Pour in beef broth and simmer until thickened.
Add vegetables, salt, pepper, and spices.
Cook for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
How to Make (Assembly & Baking)
Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish.
Top with mashed potatoes, smoothing the surface.
Sprinkle grated cheese on top if desired.
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden.
Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Variations
Use ground lamb instead of beef for a traditional version.
Add mushrooms to the meat filling for extra flavor.
Use sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes.
Add a layer of cheese inside the meat mixture.
Make it spicy with chili flakes or hot sauce.
